Meet the CryptoKids

The NSA has a children's outreach site, based around a group of cartoon characters called the CryptoKids.

This is just begging for a Cartoon Action Hour one-shot. A really terrible one.

Game Design

As I was jotting down ideas for my D&D game, another D&D game popped up locally. Since my extended social group now has four D&D games running, I decided to hold off on developing that idea any further. Poking around with Cartoon Action Hour with [info]cresida, though, has given me the idea of converting Darkgate into a CAH series. Then I went a step further, and tweaked the CAH rules a bit so that it actually plays more like a japanese FRPG video game (including a system that I'm thoroughly amused by: changing experience into gold pieces and allowing players to buy their stat increases at stores). I'm toying with some other ideas to make the whole thing a little more Gamist. Again, I've been jotting down ideas in my notebook, and maybe tomorrow I'll sit down and flesh out the notes. I might run it as a mini-series come January, but if worse comes to worse I'll just flesh it out, polish it up, and send it over to [info]cynthiacm to use in a CAH release somewhere.

Ah, the joys of owning the game you're tinkering with. :)

CAH Iron Chef

I COMPLETELY forgot about this forum for Cartoon Action Hour, and I found some awesome stuff on there, including this:

Iron Chef, The Animated Series

SlackCon
Me (Manga)

SlackCon 3 was yesterday. Unlike previous SlackCons, it wasn't very organized, because a few people were at GenCon and a couple of people unfortunately had plans for part of the day. However, we still have a nice six-person SlackCon, watching Varsity Blues and Layer Cake, playing a game of Ninja Burger (card game, not RPG), enjoying a nice dinner of stuffed peppers, spinach salad, cupcakes, and two kinds of pie (apple and pumpkin), playing of video games, and general chatting and relaxing. [info]cresida got her copy of Cartoon Action Hour, so I admit that I goobed with her about it for quite some time, and I think next SlackCon I might run a game of CAH just for fun. However, another RPG project has resurrected itself in my mind, so I might take a poke at that. It's not a project I can make money on, but it is a design I've been poking at in some form or fashion for about twenty years.

In the entry on Spring-Heeled Jack in Popular Culture, there's a reference at the very bottom of the section to Omlevex! Upon further examination, there's also a separate Omlevex entry, as well as one for Cartoon Action Hour and Spectrum Games! How cool is that?
