Got back from my academic adviser, after selling back seven out of my ten books for a whopping total of $10. Between my transfer from my previous school and the 12 credit hours I've taken, I'm already a third of the way to a degree, and only a handful of credits from a certificate program. Which means, if I bust my ass and do effectively NOTHING but work and school, I can graduate with a Bachlor's in English Lit in five years. This is the point where I grow bitter about squandering years and years of previous schooling when I could have had a degree of some sort by now.
Due to a quirk in how the transfers came out, I'm required to take English Comp 102. I'm debating breaking my self-imposed vacation and taking it this summer just to get it out of the way. I mean, it's ECOMP 102. I was practically BORED with ECOMP 101 last year, and it'll be a nice refresher on some basics (like writing academic papers, which is a minor weak point of mine). I can still use the rest of the time to polish my short stories and see what bites. But, it's actually even MORE time out of my week than last semester's schedule: two hours and forty-five minutes, twice a week. So, if I do it, I'll have to cut some more stuff out of my schedule. So, much to think about over the weekend.
